Kido

Kido means "energy path." When you are doing Kido chanting, you're using your voice, your hands, your body, also there's a lot of noise--thinking is not possible. So during a Kido it's very easy to get clear mind, easier than during a sitting retreat. Also any kind of thinking that appears, even "bad" thinking--just put that energy into your chanting, so that you are chanting with your whole mind and body and chanting 100%. Then soon your energy will change, your "bad" thinking will rest and your mind will become clear and bright. After a day of Kido chanting, even though you have been working very hard, you have a lot of energy. If you keep clear mind, you can completely change your karma--your friends, your job, your whole life, everything. But don't attach to any kind of mind--moment to moment, just do it. ---Mu Sang Sunim

BEGINNERS WELCOME!
We start with a 15-minute orientation for beginners.

Please let us know whether you plan to attend by the day before the kido. (see contact information page).

WHAT TO BRING TO THE KIDO:
Loose, comfortable clothing.
A warm layer in case the room is cool (adjustability is good; bows work up a sweat, sitting is low activity).
A small percussion instrument that you could walk easily with, such as a maraca or a small tupperware container with a wooden spoon.
